Becoming an Instructor

(Instructors teach to the general public.)

Workshop Content Includes:

• Background on the development of the AAA Driver Improvement Program

• Review of the curriculum

• Practical techniques to improve instructor communication skills

• Guidance and best practices for delivering classes

Certification Details:

• Certification remains valid for three years before a recertification course is required.

Additional Requirements:

• Homework is assigned outside of scheduled class hours, including reading assignments and preparation of a presentation

• Participants must be familiar with Zoom and have access to PowerPoint

When you become a certified AAA Driver Improvement Program
(DIP) instructor, you gain the opportunity to expand your business by reaching
more drivers. The AAA DIP curriculum includes eight chapters that can be
delivered in a variety of course lengths to meet state or agency requirements.
Individual sections of the curriculum may also be used for presentations to
civic groups, corporate training, or community seminars. The full course is
approximately eight hours in length.

The AAA Driver Improvement Program is trusted worldwide and
is used by the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps to help
reduce traffic fatalities. The program is approved in dozens of states for
drivers seeking point reduction and many insurance companies offer premium
